The 7 Robots that will take over the world

Whats in this story

Industrial robots controlled by artificial intelligence has been around since the 60ties. Remote control machines, specifically torpedoes was available since 1870. Although the science an technology of robotics have been around for awhile, it is only in the last decade that the technology that is embedded in robots have become small, cheap and powerful enough to enable the kinds of machines that you only see in Science fiction.

Dr. Dennis Hong, a TED alumnus, a Professor and the Founding Director of RoMeLa, introduces seven award-winnning, all-terrain robots — like the humanoid, soccer-playing DARwIn and the cliff-gripping CLIMBeR — all built by his team at RoMeLa, Virginia Tech. Watch to the end to hear the five creative secrets to his lab’s incredible technical success. (Filmed at TEDxNASA.)
