DIY With Irene: Glitter Coasters

Whats in this story

They may seem like a trivial accessory, but I can’t help but notice that coasters speak. Often customized with photos, animals, crystals, travel spots, you  name it, the coasters on the coffee table say a lot about the person or family living in a home. If you’ve read my previous posts, you know I’m not one to shy away  from a little (a lot) of glitter. Now, you may be thinking, a boat load of glitter tell can’t tell you much about a person’s character. But I beg to differ! Due to my small stature, and the fact that I always have a bottle of glitter in my bag, I’ve been called fairy-like on more than one occasion. And I embrace it! It’s part of who I am. So without further ado…

DIY glitter coasters in only FOUR simple steps!

What you’ll need:

  • Glitter (I used two different kinds)
  • Mod Podge Matte
  • Mod Podge Dimensional Magic Glue
  • Plain Coaster (I bought a wood based one for this!)

Step 1: Cover one side of the coaster with the Mod Podge Matte Glue. Apply a good amount and wait a few seconds before the next step.

Step 2: Add glitter! I mixed glitter flakes with some regular glitter to get a brighter and more textured look. But you go ahead and choose whatever you’d like!

Step 3: Pour a good amount of the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic Glue over the glitter after it’s dried for a couple of minutes. It’ll have a cloudy look to it but once it’s dry, it will give the glitter more dimension. Now, wait 24 hours for it to dry!

You’re done!! These babies definitely add some fun and sparkle to the coffee table. They’re SO easy to make and you can customize them however you’d like!
