I absolutely love those frozen drinks you get at those trendy cafés. I usually devour them in a matter of minutes wondering if I had the time to even savor the taste! Needless to say, I do NOT buy them very often. However, the last time I purchased one of those “heavenly” drinks, as I was sucking it down, I decided to come up with my own version; that way I can control the calories and the size…but just as important the cost. I did some calculating. To buy 3 small frozen drinks at the local specialty cafe would cost about $12.00. However, for the same $12.00, I can make about 18 café drinks depending on the size. Plus I can make them at home at my leisure…now that’s a savings and an “anytime” convenience!
1 tsp. instant coffee granules
1/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup milk
4 tsp. chocolate syrup
1 cup vanilla ice cream OR frozen yogurt
1 Tbsp. chocolate chips (optional)
In a small bowl, combine instant coffee and boiling water to melt granules. Whisk well. In a blender, combine the coffee mixture with the next 4 ingredients. Blend well. Pour into a glass; top with whipped topping. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Makes 1 serving.
HOMEMADE WHIPPED TOPPING

Using a electric mixer, beat cream until fluffy. Add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. (Keep leftovers in a air tight container in the freezer and use as needed.)
