Its being called the largest and most expensive search for aliens in history. The Breakthrough Listen project is on a ten year journey to eavesdrop on other planets and hopefully find alien life. Headed by Stephen Hawking and funded by billionaire Yuri Milnur, this is an ambitious undertaking, with lead astronomers and scientists already lined up to begin. A a huge scifi geek, I was at first intrigued by these great minds coming together to discover far off creatures. But after a few minutes of scifi dreaming, I landed firmly back on earth. To spend this amount of time and money on something that is a far-fetched mystery, when so many are suffering here on earth seems both frivolous and ridiculous. What do you think?
