Why Pinterest Depresses me

I often hear my friends and family talking about the amazing things and recipes they found on Pinterest, and how they can’t wait to try it. I, myself, have downloaded and deleted Pinterest at least ten times on my tablet and phone. I always think, “It can’t be that hard. Just follow the instructions.” So, I download excitedly, scroll through the many pictures, recipes and crafts and then stare dumbfounded at the list of ingredients or the instructions that will take at least two days. I am often confused by the comments I hear about it being “easy”  or “simple”. Nothing about this seems easy or simple. Do you know what’s easy? Going to the store and buying the finished products, hiring a baker to make that amazing Lego cake my son just has to have for his birthday, or getting my sister to bake me something amazing.  So, here are three reasons Pinterest depresses me.

I am not crafty. I do not like to glue things, cut things, knit things, sew things. I marvel at you ladies who can take two toothpicks, a glue gun and a wire hanger and make a fancy curtain rod, but would just end up with a wire hanger.

I have zero patience. I wish I had the patience to sit and try to figure out how to get those fondant shapes cut perfectly, but I honestly am not even sure what fondant is, and I usually get distracted by the 10 minute mark and my heart shapes end up looking like circles.

I never have the ingredients and almost never rush to the supermarket or craft store to buy them. Mainly cause I hate shopping (I know, am I even a woman?)

I admire you ladies who have the patience, skill and just plain willpower to get these beautiful crafts and delicious recipes done. I always shake my head in awe at your amazing pictures and posts about your creations. I have also accepted the fact that I will never be one of you.
