Why You Should Be Thankful for Your Success (Even When You’re Not Successful Yet)

Whats in this story

It’s no question that today you’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving and paying homage to everything you’re thankful to have. And whether it’s your family, friends or your job, there’s likely so much.

But there’s also room to be thankful for the things you don’t have yet.

See, sometimes it’s not about what you have, but what you will have. Or more accurately, it’s about having the desire for more. And I’m not talking more things. I’m not talking about achievement for the sake of accolades or compensation. I’m talking about needing to lead a passionate life and creating the opportunities to make it so.

So many people go through life craving success, but do nothing about it. They ridicule and insult the people who try to be successful, pointing out every misstep others take on their journey. Or they’ll simply let life pass them by, letting the clock tick away until they reach an unfortunate end with nothing to look back on.

But there are also people who strive for great success. They spend every hour of everyday thinking about their passion project. They talk candidly and openly about what they do without any fear or consequence. All they want is to see their passion, creativity, business, or whatever it is, become successful.

And maybe they don’t reach whatever goal they’re striving for. Or maybe when they do, it doesn’t look exactly like they hoped it would. It’s totally possible that their hard work and effort won’t resort in anything substantial. With so many people in the world, there’s bound to be many of us who don’t earn millions of dollars or achieve worldwide success. Some might not even achieve minuscule success. Maybe they burn out and end up bitter and regretful.

Still, these people are better off than most. They should be thankful they have an interest in creating a life that feels good to them. Life demands more than running down the time. It calls for passion and giving yourself something to strive for.

That doesn’t mean you have to go out and build a lucrative business. You don’t have to be a celebrity or a high-profile person. Strive to create something that’s worthwhile to you. If you want a great family, put all your effort into building that family. If all you want is to read good books, get going and read the damn books.

Put passion into anything and everything you do. Work hard to enhance your life and be thankful you have the desire to do so. You’re doing something many choose not to do. You’re choosing a different beat to march to.

And that is always worth celebrating.
