Parabens. What are they and are they really the enemy in the ingredients in many of our personal products? Parabens are chemical preservatives added to most of all body care products. They are used to make the product last and sit on store shelves longer. Lately, there have been a lot of research and questions asking whether parabens are safe, but I think the answer is clear on the dangers of using these chemicals in our products.
Every chemical and ingredient that goes in and onto our bodies gets absorbed directly into the bloodstream, so therefore it seems only logical that the products they use should be safe, natural and healthy for our bodies; but many companies don’t always take the time to research the ingredients, or worse yet, these large corporations don’t care.
If a chemical is cheap and available to them, that’s what they will use. Parabens have been used since the 1950’s and recent studies have shown that these parabens are very toxic to the body and contain high levels of carcinogens.
What is being done to fix this problem? Well, some companies have begun to remove parabens from their products. In almost any drug or beauty supply store, you can find all natural (Parabens-free) products, but there are still many companies who have not and probably may never remove these harmful chemicals. It would be “too much trouble” for the big name companies to reformulate their products, even if they know they’re killing us.
A shocking truth about the beauty and health industry. Along with dangerous sulfates and other toxic ingredients, parabens are found in almost everything we purchase for ourselves such as cosmetics, cleansers and skin care products, creams and lotions, shampoo, toothpaste, soaps, and related personal care products. Parabens are everywhere and it’s a scary thought of how much goes into our bodies each day.

Other ways to avoid overloading your body with parabens are by switching to brands who care what’s put into their products and how they affect the body. You can search for such companies online and I will help by giving you a list of a few below. Also when reading ingredients look for natural preservatives used in place of parabens. These would be sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate.
Shedding some light on the truth about what’s really going into our bodies is never easy, especially when going against the big companies out there still trying to “hide” what they know to be harmful to their consumers.. I hope you, like myself, are now a little wiser, and can successfully avoid these harmful parabens by making smarter choices when it comes to your personal products. Here is a list of companies who sell only all – natural, organic, safe and paraben free products to help you live a healthier and happier life. Stay safe and gorgeous!
