It’s Friday! And we couldn’t be more excited. When that clock hits 5:00 nothing can stop us from racing to our cars or the nearest train station and relishing in the fact that we don’t have to speak to our co-workers again until Monday. So sure, the weather might be nice and you should probably go outside like a normal human being but being normal is hard work and work is for Monday. Let’s choose to stay inside and binge-watch instead! What’s better than grabbing your favorite snacks and sitting on the couch with your laptop on your lap all weekend? Nothing. The answer is nothing.
If I’ve managed to convince you to stay inside this weekend, here’s a list of Netflix goodies you might enjoy:
1. Katy Perry’s The Prismatic World Tour
“Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, floating through the wiiiiiiiind wanting to start again??!” I know sometimes I do. And I don’t know about you but I love Katy Perry. She is like Lady Gaga meets Taylor Swift with candy canes and sprinkles thrown in the mix. And if any of her past performances are an indicator this is sure to be a vertigo-inducing vortex of color explosion madness. Quite frankly I’m looking forward to that! Bring on the come shaped bras and cotton candy hair, I’m ready to sing along.
2. Orange is the New Black Season 3
Somehow you’ve managed to make it this far scrolling down your Facebook newsfeed for the past two weeks without any spoilers about the show. OITNB has been on Netflix for three seasons and for some reason you still haven’t watched. No worries it’s still available and you should probably catch up now, although you’re basically like the only person on earth who probably has no clue who Ruby Rose is. Yeah, maybe you know her face because you’d have to be living under a rock not to know what she looks like. The Internet practically imploded with the debut of Ms. Ruby Rose. Watch the new season of you have no idea what I’m talking about.
3. What Happened, Miss Simone?
Netflix has been quoted as saying that most people lie about how many documentaries they actually watch on Netflix, in an attempt to aware cultured and smarter. Come on let’s be honest we all cite “Forks over Knives” and it’s most likely the one documentary every person in America has seen thanks to the American obesity crisis. Let’s change that! Let’s increase our knowledge a little bit and dive into the tumultuous world of the incredibly talented and often troubled Nina Simone. We know her songs, most famously ‘Feeling Good’, but what do we know of Miss Simone. The documentary has been described as “gutting and beautiful”.
This American drama starring Jennifer Aniston, Anna Kendrick and William H. Macy, tells the story of Claire who survives a car accident and finds herself in a chronic pain support group. Cake also stars Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation) and Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives). Be warned it’s an intense film that talks about suicide and sneaking drugs over the border. But then again your annoying co-worker has probably told you far worst tales from her weekend in Vegas.
